Welcome to my blog, a place where I’ll be sharing ideas and insights on things I’m passionate about. And there are quite a few of them.
I love business, marketing, communication and leadership. I’m deeply interested in design, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and the nexus of all four. A lot of what I intend to write or speak about will deal these topics and my perspective on them.
For now, a bit of background.
I spent the first 15 years of my working life with Reuters, where I was lucky enough to travel the world and spend significant stints living and working in Sydney, Tokyo and New York. During that time I held various executive roles, including global head of strategy and marketing, and managing director, Asia Pacific for the Reuters Media division.
To this day, I keep a watchful eye on global current affairs and news, and on developments in the media sector in general.
I’ve always been inspired by multicultural experiences and environments and regard the year I spent as a Rotary exchange student in Johannesburg, South Africa as one of the most influential of my life.
Those who know me well will attest that I should probably have been born in Japan, such is my love for the Japanese aesthetic, language and food. Mastery of the language will, I suspect, remain an elusive dream despite several attempts.
Perhaps less known, is that I am a life-long student of spirituality in all its forms but if I was to identify with any one, it would be Zen Buddhism (no surprise there!).
Relaxation comes in the form of music, meditation, yoga, long walks. Stimulation comes in the form of constant learning and an innate motivation to be the best version of myself every day.
I hope you get some fresh ideas and thinking out of what lands here. I’ll certainly be doing my best to make a positive contribution to the discourse of this amazing journey we call life.
EnJOY.
