Lavinia Calvert
A marketer by trade, my skills and experience traverse continents, cultures and contexts giving me a diverse and global perspective to draw upon. You could say that when it comes to business and marketing, I’m an intrepid traveler.
I’ve led corporate and professional services marketing teams, run regional and global business units for a listed multinational, founded an entrepreneurial start-up, and owned and operated two small businesses.
My journey has taken me from New Zealand to Australia, Asia, America and Europe, deep into the lands of fintech, the media, legal services, hospitality, textiles and sportswear.
Each experience has added richly to my craft, and to my understanding of what it takes to create and sustain a successful business and brand.
As principal consultant and owner of Calco, I help my clients improve their business or practice through modern marketing smarts.
What I’ve observed is that great marketing sits at the heart of every successful enterprise. The flip side is also apparent. When a business is under-performing or is not well received or perceived in the market, there’s a good chance that part of the problem lies in poor quality marketing. This tends to hold true regardless of the sector, shape, size or stage of the business.
Yet, many businesses fail to connect the dots between marketing and business performance. This is a big mistake.
Today more than ever, marketing matters. It is the one role in business that revolves entirely around customers and their total experience with your brand.
This calls for a strategic approach to a discipline that is all too often viewed as merely tactical or superficial.
Strategic marketing aligns to the vision and purpose of a business, and helps shape and define its overarching strategy. It puts the customer at centre and blends right brain empathy, intuition and creativity with left brain logic, facts and analysis to produce meaningful results.
I call this marketing made manifest and it’s achieved through the application of modern marketing smarts.
If you’d like to learn more about how I can help you achieve more impact from your marketing efforts, let’s talk.
